LKA for tickets... Lake Anna Winery was one of the first lake ven- ues to offer entertainment events coupled with food and wine. Bill and Ann Heidig start- ed the winery in 1983, planting more than 2,000 Seyval Blanc, 250 Caber- net Sauvignon and 1,000 Chardonnay vines. Now some 35 years later over 28 tons of grapes from over 10 acres are often picked each year for deliv- ery to several Virginia win- eries that turn their grapes into award-winning wines and the Heidigs produce their own award-winning wines. With Bill and Ann retired, their two sons, Jeff and Eric now operate the win- ery and multi-use tasting facility. It’s not just the award- winning wine that attracts visitors. Events are what draws many folks to the winery each year. The winery tasting bar and multi-use event fa- cilities are inviting with a beautiful patio and stage that lets visitors walk and picnic among the vines. Over the past few win- ters, a Wine, Soup & Mu- sic Series has become popular on Sunday after- noons. Live performers, tasty soup and matched wines compliment fireside seating as Old ManWinter looks on from outside. The official outdoor sea- son usually kicks off with a Mother’s Day Jazz Jam, followed by the Virginia Rennaissance Faire, a Me- morial Day Bash then the Here Comes The Summer In the Vineyard event. July 4 week is highlighted by the County Americana event capped off with spectacular fireworks. The Cajun Zydeco party follows about two weeks hence, then the Carribean Beach Party and the End Of Summer Jam on Labor Day Weekend. The year’s events draw to a close with the winery’s annual Halloween Mad- ness Party. For more events and information about Lake Anna Winery, visit www. lawinery.com.
