June 12 - Lake Anna Kayak Club Expedition. Head up the Pamunkey Branch and plant the flag. Let's paddle as far as we can and plant the club flag in this remote headwater of the lake. Go to www.lakeannakayakclub.blogspot.com for details.
June 6 - FDR visits Louisa on D-Day. Louisa Arts Center. We are thrilled to co-host, with the Louisa Historical Society, Mr. John Hamant of Colonial Williamsburg as President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, as he campaigns in Louisa for his fourth term as president. It will be June 6, 1944 and Mr. Roosevelt intends to talk about the nation and the war before taking questions about his national and international policies from the audience. June 12 - Mark Nizer: 3D Juggler and Laser Light Show. Louisa Arts Center. Mark Nizer has changed the way people view the world. The impossible is possible, the improbable is probable. His invention of new juggling tricks and juggling technologies, combined with his unique wit have set him apart from his peers. Imagine, four lasers being juggled at 1000 rpms, with the spinning laser beams dancing just above the audiences heads. June 19 - Summer Solitace Rhythm And Blues In The Vineyard. Lake Anna Winery. 6 to 10 pm. Welcome the summer out on our lawn and dance into the night. $15 Fee includes music with Jerry McClam and Destiny (from Wash D.C.), souvenir wine glass, tours, and tasting. June 27 - Lake Anna Kayak Club South Anna River Expedition. Our first off-Anna paddle. We'll run from Rt. 33 to Rt. 54 on the sister river to the North Anna. Go to www.lakeannakayakclub.blogspot.com for details.

July 2 - Independence Day Kickoff Celebration at Lake Anna Winery. 6 to 10 pm Come by and enjoy an early kickoff to your holiday weekend out in the vineyard with live music, light appetizers and wine by the glass. July 3 - Fireworks On Lake Anna at Dike II. Sponsored by Lake Anna Civic Association and the many businesses, subdivisions and individuals that donate to the "Fireworks Fund". Get in place by dusk, the first shot usually goes off around 9:15 pm. Watching via boat is your best bet.
July 10 - Cajun Zydeco Night at Lake Anna Winery. 6 to 10 pm. Fireworks are over, but the sparks still fly at the winery for live Zydeco music with Dixie Power Trio and Cajun Fare. Consistently our most popular event. $30 fee includes music from Zack Smith and The Dixie Power Trio, souvenir wine glass, tours, and tasting. Sold out in 2009! July 17 - Wine & Whiskers at Lake Anna Winery. 6 to 10 pm A fund raiser for the Fredericksburg area SPCA. The event features wine tastings, a cash wine bar, light fare and desserts, silent auction, door prizes and live music. All proceeds benefit the SPCA's new humane care facility. The SPCA is the Fredericksburg area's only no-kill animal shelter. $50 fee includes souvenir wine glass, tours, and tasting. Reservations are required. July 31 - Caribbean Beach Party at Lake Anna Winery. 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Held on the Grounds of Lake Anna Winery. Join Lake Anna, James River, Cooper and Grayhaven wineries for an evening of great wine, exceptional food and live Caribbean Jazz. Wear your favorite Hawaiian shirt and dance under the stars. August 28 - Lake Anna Kayak Club Expedition, Return to Contrary Creek. This was an amazing paddle last year as we explored this heavily impacted but barren creek that is planned as the site of a major Lake Anna development. Go to www.lakeannakayakclub.blogspot.com for details.
August 28 - ACE Blues & BBQ Fundraiser at Lake Anna Winery. 5 to 10 pm. Adult Community Education (ACE) returns to kick up some fun with local musicians BlueRock. $30.00 fee includes souvenir wineglass, wine tasting, dinner, and entertainment. October 16 - Octoberfest at Lake Anna Winery. 5 to 9 pm. Enjoy the bounty and beauty of fall in the country. Join us for an evening of wine, a hearty authentic German meal and local music from Michael Wheelehan. $30.00 fee helps benefit Habitat for Humanity causes. Reservations for food are required. October 30 - Annual Chili Cook Off at Early House. Noon-5 pm. The Park at Earlyhouse will once more be host to a wonderful community event – the Charity Chili Cook-off. Teams will be perfecting their secret recipes to vie for the bragging rights to Louisa County’s best chili. Friends, families, and folks from all over will be sampling chili, listening to live music, relaxing and having fun on a beautiful fall day. There will be games, and special “tricks and treats”. The best part – it is all done for a great cause! The Chili Cook-off has raised over $26,000 for charity over the last five years and our goal for the 6th Annual cook-off is $15,000. This year’s Chili Cook-off will once again benefit the National Kidney Foundation and the Virginia Transplant Center at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital. www.earlyhouse.com.
